Evidence before enthusiasm.
These rules govern how The Tool Shortlist researches software, separates evidence from opinion and handles affiliate relationships.
Source hierarchy
Current product claims are checked against primary sources where available: official pricing pages, product documentation, help centers, terms and vendor announcements. Secondary sources may provide context but do not replace official documentation for plan limits or terms.
What we will not claim
- Hands-on use that did not happen.
- Results, conversion rates or deliverability outcomes we did not measure.
- A permanent price or feature when the vendor can change it.
- That one tool is universally best without naming the intended workflow and tradeoff.
Reviews and comparisons
Recommendations begin with the reader's job: for example, dedicated email marketing versus an all-in-one selling system. Pages should identify the best fit, the main compromise and a practical way to test the decision. Published and checked dates help readers judge freshness, but readers should still verify important details with the vendor.
Affiliate policy
Some links are affiliate links. The Tool Shortlist may earn a commission from an eligible purchase without increasing the buyer's price. Affiliate availability does not determine whether a product is included, excluded or ranked higher. Comparisons may include a non-affiliate product when it is relevant to the decision.
Corrections
Software changes quickly. If you find a factual error, email contact@thetoolshortlist.com with the page URL and a primary source where possible. Substantive corrections are made directly rather than hidden.
Scope
The content is general product-selection information, not legal, financial, privacy, security or deliverability advice. Each reader is responsible for checking the requirements that apply to their business and data.
